and intorducing...

ok, first... a huge thank you to everyone who commented on my last journal entry, you were all real kind and very helpful. its always good to get an outsiders perspective even if you don't agree, it just opens doors you might not otherwise have had the key for...

on to the title

and introducing... will hoepfuly be a reoccurring theme here as i work on projects. at the moment i'm revamping jules as i now own the rights so am working slowly toward a re release... so it all needs designing as if i draw it, or someone else does... i need to have designed the characters for legal simplicity

so i will start to introduce people to the characters. before i introduce this one i will say theres some you just cant see... cannons for instance who i finished designing recently...

if i introduced you to cannons it would ruin parts of the book for later just by her look, let alone if i told you anything about her...

so i cant show you them all, it also restricts the series of posters im working on... jules: the good the bad and the ugly which will probably see print i hope

anyway on to my first introduction

introducing:

miss-tress

see the deviation for the full description

why mis-tress first... i wanted to show the other side of the book. bazooka jules will definitely never be a skin mag... ever... the whole reason originally for bazooka jules was to poke light hearted fun at that side of the comics industry... i know, i know... poking fun or not bazooka jules itself was the same thing, but i never denied that ;)

but that is something i am attempting to change this time around, without changing the nature of the character or the book to much. jules the character and the book, while remaining light hearted, will be a very different affair this time around... as will be shown in themes, supporting cast and as i say, the character and look of jules herself

i've grown and developed as a creator since i originally worked on jules and i hope that will be reflected in the book.

so i wanted to show that not all the characters were going to be bright and teenage in nature... obviously dont ever expect to see hardcore bondage or anything of a strong sexual nature in jules, it wont happen...

but we, even as teenagers, live in a very adult world, and so jules, as someone fighting villains, adult villains, will encounter all manner of people, with all manner of abilities... and... "personal preferences"

i thought mis-tress was a very nice contrast to jules in all ways...

small addition, if the image isn't up yet, it wont let me load the image... when it has loaded the image, i'll delete this little section ;)

There are two types of people in the world.
-Those who can't draw.
-And those who won't accept they can't draw and then draw.

tea or cake or death?
miss-tress - well, when I find the deviation I'll give you some feedback on it.

Bazooka Jules though. I really enjoyed the first few issues, even the little sideways swipe at comic book stores being unfriendly places for Jules and her friends (hell, they had it coming :D )

My only crit on the matter is that she seems to lack any internal drive or desire. She's always reacting to events heaped upon her. It would be nice to know what she wants to do with her life and see her work to make it happen - even if it's nothing more than a fight to enjoy being a normal teenager - hanging out with friends, going to raves, dreaming about boys, wondering going to college or not (despite mad scientists, corporate overlords, and the occasional ballooning breasts).

Instead of having her save the world, have her almost lose it over the desire to go jeans shopping - that really builds character. And to me that is the dividing line between the skin mag with a storyline and an actual story that just happens to star cheesecake. For some reason the skin mags just don't allow their girls to have real character. Maybe it's too ugly for them?

All in all, it'll be interesting to see what you do. And it's good to hear she's making a comeback!
:D

I am so stoked for a new Bazooka Jules. I loved how you were totally poking fun at the industry. It's great to hear that it's coming out again.
yeah we only managed to make it to issue 3 before and so i never really got the chance to take her and the character too far. she did have bigger things on the horizon... once she'd managed to get her feet on the ground... and her chest in her top... ;)

i wont be going the i want a normal life route, and i certainly wont take the woohoo check it out i have powers route (a certain extremely tough male teenage hero went there already ;) ) but she will have direction... and real drive... all be it a little... strange :)

some things from what i wanted to originally do, character wise, have stuck, somethings i've changed due to the changes in character... but i like to think she does have some real personality... its something i've spent a long while fleshing out, trying to make her a real person, in a real world... even if it is full of weirdos with powers... as real as it could be

and just so everyone knows... the whole ballooning breasts and band aids thing.... thats been toned right down... right right down... and she's certainly not topless anymore... i guess before i introduce anymore supporting characters... maybe i should re introduce her ;)

Journal History

ok guys and girls... which character do we want introduced after jules i'll keep the poll running removing characters as they are introduced and adding new ones.
